- I'm employed by a private ambulance company, filling in the parts that the NHS can't reach, and move patients, surgical teams, equipment and organs for transplant. We move mental patients too, and we also do a good deal of repatriation work, as well as some event work occasionally. We have a range of vehicles from frontline ambulances, team vehicles and response cars, as well as access to planes when necessary to transport our 'cargo'. I work very long hours, work very unpredictable shift patterns, but the job, is much more than just a job, it is also very rewarding. This blog is intended to be a regular account of life as a non-NHS ambulance technician, sometimes it can be funny, sometimes sad, but always unpredictable, so who knows what may end up on here!
